Candela
Picosecond pulses
Pulses of 250–450 ps are much shorter than in classic Q-switched lasers. Energy acts mainly photomechanically, shattering pigment into very fine particles that the body can gradually clear, with limited thermal load on surrounding tissue.
Four wavelengths for different colours
1064 nm targets dark pigments, 532 nm reds and oranges, while the 730 and 785 nm handpieces extend capabilities to greens and blues. One platform therefore covers most multicolour tattoos.
Resolve – fractional rejuvenation
The Resolve handpiece splits the beam into a matrix of micro-zones, stimulating skin remodelling while keeping the epidermis intact. Treatments for fine lines and acne scars usually involve only short-lived redness.
Proven clearances
PicoWay is CE-marked and FDA 510(k) cleared for tattoo removal and benign pigmented lesions – a strong argument when communicating with patients and building clinic credibility.

Questions & answers
How many sessions does tattoo removal take?
The number of sessions depends on colour, depth and density of the ink, tattoo age and location. A series several weeks apart is usually planned; complete removal of every pigment cannot be guaranteed in advance.
What are the running costs?
The picosecond laser does not require disposables for typical tattoo and pigment treatments. Costs are mainly scheduled service inspections per the manufacturer and any wear parts – details are included in our quote.
What are the main contraindications?
Typical contraindications include pregnancy, active infection or inflammation in the treatment area, a fresh tan or self-tanner, photosensitising medication (e.g. isotretinoin), a tendency to keloid scarring and suspicious lesions at the treatment site. The full list is in the manufacturer's IFU – we recommend a consultation and a test spot before the first session.
