MaQX technology

Modulated Acoustic Q-switching combines high peak power with very high pulse energy – up to 10 J according to the manufacturer. A strong photoacoustic effect shatters pigment into fine particles, supporting efficient work even on resistant tattoos.

FracTAT – fractional tattoo removal

The patented FracTAT technique combines fractional micro-channels in the skin with Q-switched pulses. The channels help release gases and pressure generated during treatment, supporting the photoacoustic effect.

A full colour palette

The 1064 and 532 nm wavelengths are complemented by optional 585 and 650 nm converters for more challenging tattoo colours. One device covers a wide range of inks.

Questions & answers

How does StarWalker differ from a picosecond laser?

StarWalker operates in the nanosecond domain with very high pulse energy and large spots, while picosecond lasers use shorter, lower-energy pulses. Both approaches are used for tattoo removal – the choice depends on patient profile and physician preference.

Can complete tattoo removal be guaranteed?

No. Outcomes depend on ink type and depth, colour, tattoo age and the body's response. Patients should be informed that a series of sessions is needed and that transient pigment changes are possible.

What are the main contraindications?

Typical contraindications include pregnancy, active infection or inflammation in the treatment area, a fresh tan or self-tanner, photosensitising medication (e.g. isotretinoin), a tendency to keloid scarring and suspicious lesions at the treatment site. The full list is in the manufacturer's IFU – we recommend a consultation and a test spot before the first session.
